Regional colloquia for teachers and administrators. FCR-STEM will host three single-day colloquia each year to present current topics related to STEM education research and its implications for policy and practice. These will be held at three different sites in Florida .
Biennial conference for partners and stakeholders. FCR-STEM will develop a plan for a 2-day invited conference that will focus in-depth on a STEM education research topic and facilitate networking among Florida’s leaders in STEM and STEM education research, K-12 instruction, and business and industry. The conference would be held every other year starting in 2008.
Information dissemination through technology and the media.. FCR-STEM will develop a marketing plan to distribute information about STEM education and STEM fields to parents, students, and educators. The Center will develop the plan in partnership with organizations involved in outreach to these groups and with the FSU Colleges of Information and Communication.
Student Achievement briefs. FCR-STEM will prepare three briefs, one for policy makers, another for teachers and principals and a third for parents, summarizing statewide trend data on FCAT and NAEP mathematics and science. Data will be disaggregated by ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and other subgroups (e.g., limited English proficiency and special needs students). These briefs will be updated annually, as new data become available.
