Leadership in Mathematics and Science Instruction Facilitators:
Laura Lang, Ph. D., Director of Learning Systems Institute and Co-Principal Investigator for FCR-STEM and Florida PROMiSE, is the principal investigator for the LMSI project and study. She is also Director of the Learning Systems Institute and an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She is a former middle school principal, high school assistant principal and high school teacher. and a former middle school principal, high school assistant principal and high school teacher.
Rob Schoen, Ph. D., Associate Director of FCR-STEM, formerly of the Office of Mathematics and Science at the Florida Department of Education is taking the lead on design and delivery related to mathematics content and pedagogy as well as the research study. At OMS, Rob had a lead role in development of the new mathematics standards. Rob is a doctoral candidate in mathematics education at FSU and holds degrees in mathematics, atmospheric science, and mathematics education.
Steven Blumsack, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at FSU and content area expert in mathematics and science. He assisted in the development of the Cecil B. Golden website to provide information to principals regarding the NGSSS, taught mathematics to gifted high school students for 20 years, and played major roles in professional development activities in mathematics, physics, environmental science, and space science for grades 3-12 mathematics and science teachers. Steven earned his B.S. from Caltech (Mathematics, physics minor) and his Ph.D. from MIT (mathematics, physics minor).
Christi Moss, former Principal of Chaires Elementary School in Leon County and the Past President of the Florida Association of School Administrators (FASA), serves as the Project Director of the Leadership Professional Development Design Team and Project. Christi is experienced at delivering professional development to school and district administrators, in areas including Classroom Walkthrough Training, Crisis Prevention Institute, and Professional Learning Communities in Schools. She is a former middle and high school assistant principal and middle school teacher.
