Gap between income groups in fifth grade is still large but decreasing 

FCAT Mathematics Achievement Level 3 and Above by FRL, Grade 5

Fewer fifth grade students on free and reduced lunch (FRL) performed at grade level and above on FCAT Mathematics compared to non-FRL students. In 2008, 50 percent of students on FRL scored at grade level and above compared to 75 percent not on FRL, a difference of 25 percentage points. From 2002-2008, students on FRL scoring at grade level and above increased by 15 percentage points, while non-FRL students increased by 11 points.
