NAEP Mathematics Student Achievement at Proficient Level by SWD (U.S. vs. Florida), Grade 4
Florida’s fourth grade Students with Disabilities (SWD) have traditionally scored higher than the national SWD average in NAEP* mathematics. However, in 2007 Florida’s SWD scoring at the Proficient level on NAEP decreased by six percent, while the National SWD average increased by three percent.
*NAEP 2007 mathematics achievement was scored on a scale of 0 to 300 for fourth graders. Students scoring 213 and lower were considered achieving below basic understanding in science, 214-248 had Basic level of achievement, those scoring 249-281 were Proficient, and Advanced students scored 282 or greater.
