Nancy Romance, Ph.D., of Florida Atlantic University and Michael Vitale, Ph.D., of East Carolina University will give a brown bag presentation and discussion on June 16 about their research related to Science IDEAS, a science- and literacy-based intervention that they have been rigorously testing through grants from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education. Some of their earlier pilot studies in the elementary grades were funded via a subcontract from LSI, as part of the federally-funded Multi-University Reading, Mathematics, and Science Initiative (MURMSI). Recently, they were awarded an Education Research Grant from the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education, to continue their work.
